"Guru Rinpoche" print - Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, was instrumental in bringing Buddhism to Tibet. It’s a very beautiful and unusual painting of Padmasambhava, in that it has a plain sky background and was created from an actual vision that Trungpa Rinpoche had of Padmasambhava. With clouds kind of trailing out behind him and lots of dakinis (tantric female deities) dancing around with their drums. Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche created this series in the late 1960’s during his time at Oxford.

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche was one of leading Buddhist teachers of the 20th century and a pioneer in bringing Buddhism to the West, he established Shambhala International. He is the author of bestselling books on the Buddhist teachings.

He was a poet, painter, and calligrapher who coined the term “dharma art,” and whose teachings on dharma art describe a profound connection between meditative mind and the creative process.
