Exploring the idea that through dissolving our individual boundaries of ‘self’ - we create a stillness through which life can move through us to sense a place of connected spaciousness.

Starting by using symmetry which is often found in tradition artwork to evoke contemplation, and a muted palette to signify a natural and timeless quality reflecting the time-honored teachings - then re-imagined with the things that were around the artist; the forest, wood grained surfaces, her daughter and a subversive neon orange crochet repurposed as a mandala.

Through elevating the mundane Alison wanted to acknowledge that it is also in the everyday we fine-tune our practice muscles, not exclusively during ritual or traditional meditative spaces.

Alison Eddy’s art practice often celebrates natural form and philosophical thought and is inspired by her inquiry into Buddhism, it pushes the boundaries of digital and commercial techniques and reclaims them to reinterpret long-held belief systems to resonate in the modern world.
