Kwong Roshi did this calligraphy many years ago, and it has become kind of iconic. “Only Don’t Know” is his instruction to his students about the kind of mind they should hold, so it made the perfect illustration for an article on the koan tradition in Zen Buddhism. Kwong Roshi is unusual in that he does a lot of calligraphies in English and has a very beautiful calligraphy style in both Japanese and English. This one truly speaks for itself. –Liza Matthews
