Medium Antique Singing Bowls with Hand-Loomed Himalayan Wool Mat, Mallet and Ringing Stick

Each bowl comes with a mallet, a ringing stick, wood on one side and leather on the other for spinning the rim, and a hand loomed Himalayan wool mat.

The bowls are composed of bronze which is a mixture of copper and tin and were hand-hammered from a flat sheet into their current shape and etched with traditional markings. Owing to their past use and hammer marks some of the etchings have softened, worn by time making each bowl unique.
The singing bowls are curated. They are all selected for their resonance and harmonious layering of tones. They are also examined by an expert for assurance they are genuine antiques.
-------------------
Thadobati Style
Going by the Nepali name of “Thadobati” these are the most popular style of singing bowl. They have tall straight sides and flat bottoms. By virtue of their shape, they have the largest sweet spot and are the easiest to play. The flat bottom makes them quite stable when played with a mallet. These bowls are 4 to 5 inches across. Thadobati this size cover a wide range of tones from the lower fourth octave a few notes above middle C to the lower fifth octave.

Manipuri Style
Going by the Indian name of “Manipuri” these singing bowls have steeply sloped sides and somewhat round bottoms. These bowls are 4 1/2 to a bit under 6 inches across. They cover a range of tones clustered around middle C from the upper third to mid fourth octave.

Each singing bowl is labeled with a unique identifying number along with a sticker indicating the style, note, and octave. The packing slip will have weight, dimensions, musical note, octave, frequency in Hz, and overtone.
-------------------
These antique singing bowls come from Nepal and Northern India. In the 1970s and 80s, many antique bowls made their way over the Himalayas from Tibet to Nepal where they were sold to tourists or collected and shipped out of the country. That source for singing bowls has long since been exhausted. These days the only sources for this type of antique bowls are the rural areas of the Himalayan Mountains and their foothills as well as the provinces of Northeast India.
If you purchase one of each type or two of the same type we will make sure the bowls have proper sonic distance and play harmoniously with each other.
