"No mud no lotus" print - Thich Nhat Hanh

The lotus flower pushes through the muck, a lengthy and dark process that requires patience and understanding. This is the lotus’ natural process, in which without the muck, there would be no flower. Just like the lotus, humans too need darkness in order to recognize the light. Things we perceive as negative could add value to things we believe are positive. When we know how to suffer, we suffer much, much less. Breathe through the thick muckiness - no mud, no lotus.

These beautiful enso calligraphies by Thich Nhat Hanh integrate slogan-like phrases that express his simple, but powerful, dharma teachings. “No Mud No Lotus” is one of the calligraphies created and given to the Lion’s Roar Foundation. The print is now offered and available here for purchase.
