"Enso" Sterling Silver Necklace
Designed exclusively for the Lion's Roar Store, artist Britta Ambauen was inspired to create this pendant necklace after seeing an enso for the first time. She says, what is this? The moon? A wheel? The top of a bucket? The head of a monk? It's open to interpretation. This pendant design is inspired by the enso, a Japanese word meaning, "circular form." Translated into English, it means, "Zen circle." Often, an enso is depicted as a circle that is hand-drawn with an uninhibited brushstroke to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. I created the enso in sterling silver by hammering a circular form, transitioning the direction of the hammer strokes from the front to the side of the circle to create dimension and an organic quality. Simple, elegant, understated and meaningful.
An enso to wear and to remind us. Thank you, Britta.
